Entry Fee: FREE for students of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne.
1st round: Online, due by August 1.
2nd round: Live in front of a panel. Friday morning, Sept 22, 2017
3rd round: Final on Sunday Sept 24, 2017
1st round: Online round
Entrants will upload a single take, unedited audio recording of the set work by completing the Competition Entry Form. The set piece is any étude by Giulio Regondi plus an additional free choice. Audio recordings must be one continuous recording, with no added reverb, compression or editing. 10min time limit total.
2nd round: Live panel
Semi-finalists will be required to perform 'Dervish' from Stélé by Phillip Houghton plus an additional free choice (must be different to online round). Multiple movements may be performed for the free choice piece. A digital download of the score to Dervish can be purchased from www.philliphoughton.com.au Total time limit 12mins.
3rd round: Live concert (open to public)
Entirely free choice. May repeat pieces from previous rounds if desired. 15min time limit.
Judges decisions are final. Competition entry fees are non-refundable.

*Although fees have been negotiated for the above concerts, the Melbourne Guitar Foundation will not take responsibility for 3rd party concert commitments. Every effort will be made by the MGF to ensure a smooth concert tour in 2018, with our full support and assistance behind the winner
All competitors will need to provide two photocopies of their chosen repertoire for the adjudicators during check-in to the festival. These photocopies will be destroyed after the competition and cannot be returned. All competitors must also complete an APRA copyright agreement during their check-in to the festival.
